We get this question all the time so here are our Top 10 suggestions - 1) Call and plan a visit to meet us & check out our school. Look at the airplanes you will fly. 2) Take a Discovery Flight if you have never flown before - ensure you like flying! 3) Now, schedule your first dual lesson (dual means you, the instructor, aircraft and fuel). You have two choices - the Cessna 152 or 172. If your over 6'1" and 210 lbs, go for the 172. 4) Bring your passport or birth certificate for proof of citizenship to 1st lesson. This is a TSA requirement. We'll also get a copy of another photo I.D. 5) Purchase these two FAA books from us for $38 and begin studying for the FAA written exam. Airplane Flying Handbook (FAA-H-8083-3) and Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge (FAA-H-8083-25) . The written exam must be passed prior to your checkride. (Or you can download them for freefrom the FAA's website) 6) Schedule your 3rd class medical with a local DME. (see Flight Training Info page for Designated Medical Examiner names). 7) After your first dual lesson, sign up in Flight Schedule Pro (home page) as a new user. 8) Google the FAA's "IACRA" page and create an account/make application for your student pilot certificate (needs sign off by a CFI). Must have in order to solo. 9) Visit AOPA.org. for financing options. 10) Create a game plan and focus on your goal. Now -Start flying and hanging out with us at the airport!
